Job Description:

The Core Machine Learning Research team within the Artificial Intelligence Research Lab at Hewlett Packard Labs is hiring exceptional postdoctoral researchers to work on advanced techniques in Generative AI, Large Language Models, Reinforcement Learning, and optimization, aiming for transformative applications in areas such as digital twins, nuclear fusion, sustainability, and trustworthy AI systems. Researchers will work in an innovative environment blending foundational research and real-world impacts, with opportunities to collaborate with high-caliber peers and publish in top-tier venues.

Job Responsibility:

  • LLM and agentic architectures with refinements to enhance trust for complex applications and workflows
  • Multi-agent and multi-objective reinforcement learning for complex physical systems
  • Generative models and Optimization for scientific domains such as inertial confinement fusion
  • Scalable, safe AI systems that push the boundary of what’s possible in applied ML

Requirements:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields focusing on Machine Learning
  • Extensive experience in deep learning research is required, preferably with Reinforcement Learning and Large Language Models
  • Experience in developing applications with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch with a high software proficiency

Nice to have:

  • Research experience in Large Language Models (LLMs) and/or Reinforcement Learning
  • Strong foundation in deep learning, with high proficiency in data structures and algorithms
  • Hands-on experience with PyTorch and other leading machine learning frameworks (PyTorch required)
  • Proficient in Python, with strong software development skills
  • Publication record in top-tier ML/AI conferences or journals
