Job Description

Supports Technology leadership in governance & delivery of strategic technology portfolio for assigned Business Units. Independently manage the people, processes, and technical direction of the project analysts and project managers. Partner with all levels of Sysco management and staff to ensure successful project and program delivery in compliance with industry best practices and Sysco’s established processes and tools. Provides leadership and guidance in Sysco's processes and tools, at a company-wide level.

Job Responsibility

  • Owns all aspects one medium complexity Program Portfolio, its projects, associated budgets, and project staffing needs
  • Governs purchasing, vendor management, resource allocation process and tools compliance by all the portfolio or area
  • Manages a team of project managers and vendors
  • Communicates executive leadership vision and ensures project team members are informed of assigned project roles, responsibilities tasks, and deliverables
  • Acts as liaison between business and technical teams, understands the impact of decisions, and delegates tasks effectively
  • Understands project and program drivers and how they map to the business goals. Ensures team objectives are consistent with strategic plan and vision
  • Ensures that the team maintains an understanding of and commitment to Sysco’s vision, values, and objectives through effective and open communication and coaches team members who are not acting in accordance with company values
  • Plans, monitors, and reports on portfolio support activities to ensure that each part of the portfolio contributes to the overall achievement of strategic benefits
  • Works with business areas to identify and categorize new projects for a decision on entry to the portfolio and provides regular updates on pipeline
  • Monitors and adjusts to shifting priorities across the portfolio, budget constraints and uses tradeoff decisioning to ensure successful delivery of the priority work
  • Ensures compliance via exception reporting, with our usage of the Jira tool across the Agile teams in the portfolio area to ensure work is categorized appropriately to the correct initiative
  • Manages and resolves conflicts and disagreements in a constructive manner. Serves as an escalation point for the team for complex risks and issues across programs and portfolio areas
  • Mentors and trains project and program managers in both their technical and professional development. Identify and coordinate training needs
  • May occasionally serve as a program Manager on a strategic initiative
  • Applies fundamental financial concepts to support staffing and business planning efforts, to track budget/spending to ensure alignment, and to report on financial progress
  • Monitors and provides regular updates on Portfolio Performance (project status, achievements, financial health, etc)

Requirements

  • 3 years’ experience managing project and program managers on a program
  • 6 years’ experience in a project management role
  • CAPM/PMP, Prince 2 or similar certification

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 years’ experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, PlanView or Smartsheet
  • Experience with Agile Methodology or CSM certification preferred
  • Experience presenting to or facilitating group training of all sizes and management levels
  • Demonstrated experience providing effective feedback to team members and supporting them in incorporating it
  • Experience justifying requests for resources to accomplish goals and engaging in discussions and negotiations related to prioritization
  • Skilled in being a transparent, effective, and respectful communicator with key business and technical stakeholders, able to lead meetings, conversations, and group discussions
  • Experienced in how to use empathy and emotional intelligence
