Randstad is currently collaborating with a prominent State Government entity to facilitate the recruitment of Policy Officers at the Level 6 and Level 7 classifications. Location: Perth Metropolitan Area (Hybrid: 1 day work-from-home per week). Contract: 6 months initial + 6-month extension option Government experience highly preferred Role 1: Principal Policy Officer (Level 7) Rate: $89.65 – $95.81 per hour + super Reports To: Level 8 Manager Supervision: May supervise a small team Responsibilities Coordinates the development of strategic organizational policies and affordable housing solutions. Undertakes complex analysis to prepare feasibility studies, business cases, and formal reports. Provides high-level policy advice to the Department and Minister, preparing Cabinet submissions and briefing notes. Leads specific policy projects with a complex cross-agency or sector-wide focus. Selection Criteria Leadership & Strategy: Ability to lead teams through organizational change and design complex cross-agency strategic options. Achieves Outcomes: Experience delivering high-level policy advice and continuous service improvements. Communication: Strong negotiation skills with internal/external stakeholders and a track record of well-crafted written advice. Role 2: Senior Policy Officer (Level 6) Rate: $77.21 – $85.08 per hour + super Reports To: Level 7 Principal Policy Officer or Level 8 Manager Responsibilities Contributes to the research, evaluation, and design of affordable housing and system reform initiatives. Assists in analyzing data and preparing detailed options papers, corporate reports, and business cases. Prepares drafted ministerial correspondence, briefing notes, and departmental responses. Maintains productive stakeholder relationships to support cross-agency and sector-wide initiatives. Selection Criteria Strategic Awareness: Ability to analyze policy issues and translate strategic objectives into operational goals. Research & Analysis: Strong skills in gathering data, conceptualizing problems, and evaluating policy options. Project & Communication: Proven organization skills to meet timeframes alongside clear, concise written and verbal communication.
