Scouts is launching a new strategy from April 2026 and we’re looking for an experienced Policy and Public Affairs Lead to help us create real change for young people across the UK. In this role, you’ll help shape policy, build strong relationships with decision makers, and support young people and volunteers to have their voices heard. You’ll work closely with colleagues across communications, fundraising and programmes, and represent Scouts with partners, politicians and sector organisations.
Job Responsibility:
Lead Scouts’ UK-wide policy and public affairs work, setting clear priorities and plans
Build and maintain positive relationships with politicians, civil servants and partner organisations
Support young people and volunteers to take part in influencing and advocacy work
Develop clear policy positions based on evidence, insight and the views of young people
Track political and policy developments and share clear updates with colleagues
Work with communications and fundraising teams to connect influencing work with campaigns and media
Plan and deliver a small number of events, including in Parliament and at party conferences
Requirements:
Experience influencing policy or decision makers at a national level
Strong writing and communication skills
Confidence working with senior stakeholders and partners
Experience managing multiple projects at the same time
An interest in politics, youth voice, and the voluntary sector
