Requirements:

  • United States High School Graduate, G.E.D., or California High School Proficiency Examination, or two-year, four-year, or advanced degree from an accredited college or university
  • Must be at least 20 years old when taking the examination and at least 21 years of age by the time of appointment
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver license
  • Must NOT have been convicted of a felony, an offense involving domestic violence, any misdemeanor that carries a penalty of prohibiting ownership, possession or control of a firearm, or restricted from employment with the City and County of San Francisco
  • Must pass a background investigation
  • Must pass a written exam (FrontLine National Law Enforcement Examination or California PELLETB Exam) or have a Bachelor's degree or higher for waiver
  • Must pass a Physical Ability Test
  • Must pass an Oral Interview

Nice to have:

  • Experience in the United States Military
  • Proficiency in a second language relevant to San Francisco communities
