The Secret Service Police (Uniformed Division) mission is to protect facilities and venues secured for U.S. Secret Service protectees. Throughout its history, the Secret Service Police has accomplished this mission through a tradition of honor, integrity, and a commitment to excellence.
Job Responsibility:
Safeguard the White House complex, the Vice President's residence, and other designated facilities
Provide security for foreign missions and embassies
Travel in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions
Enforce mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A
Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship
Possess a current valid driver's license
Must be at least 20 years old at the time of application and under 40 at referral
Submit to a drug test prior to appointment and random drug testing
Disclose any prior drug use
Complete automatic credit check
Carry and use a firearm
Complete 13 weeks of training at FLETC and 18 weeks at James J. Rowley Training Center
Certify Selective Service registration if applicable
Appointed under a limited-term Schedule B excepted appointment (3 years and 120 days)
Must have uncorrected vision of at least 20/100, correctable to 20/20
Obtain and retain a Top-Secret Clearance
Hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels
Use official name on application
Serve a 2-year trial period
Possess a high school diploma or certificate of equivalency
Be age 20 at application and 21 at appointment
Successfully complete Phase I (NCIC, UDEE, APAT, Super Interview) and Phase II (Credit Check, Security Interview, Polygraph, Medical Exam, Background Investigation) of application process
Meet general medical requirements for physical and mental stability
No visible body markings on head, face, neck, hand, and fingers (exception for single conservative ring tattoo)
Nice to have:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work
Consideration will be given to performance appraisals and incentive awards as an indicator of quality of prior experience
