Patrols assigned jurisdiction and observed for unsafe, unsecure, or illegal activity
Accomplishes and documents assigned patrols in accordance with established procedure and time frames
Ensures that assigned activities occur in accordance with established procedure and time frames
Responds to calls for assistance. Completes uniform incident reports as appropriate and in compliance with established procedures
Appropriately and effectively intervenes when unruly, abusive, combative, threatening, or armed persons are encountered
Communicates in a calm, factual, objective, and courteous manner with all persons with whom communication or collaboration are necessary. Coordinates and communicates with community police agencies as appropriate
Documents work activities and incidents. Completes investigations of any criminal activity occurring within corporate jurisdiction in accordance with established policy and procedure
Demonstrates capability of communicating and demonstrating all skills required for the position as assessed through periodic skills assessments. Maintains all training and competency as required to maintain Georgia law enforcement general certification
Responds to all acts of violence in the Emergency Center, 6 East, and other areas
Handles the safekeeping of patient valuables consistently with hospital policy and procedure and the removal, safekeeping, and return of these valuables
Conducts investigations at incident scenes and prepares the necessary report documentation
Responds to all security alarms, both in-house and those off-site properties in proximity
Patrols and controls access to the Emergency Center: Provides safety, protection, and screening of persons entering Emergency Center area
Escorts patients to seclusion and T-6 with safety in mind always. Insures that person(s) are searched before going to T-6 and/or seclusion. Knows how and when to use restraints and proper use of handheld metal detectors. Makes required rounds in treatment area
Patrols inside and outside areas and secures coverage of the hospital: Reports hazards, security risks both in secured and unsecured areas
Requirements:
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Previous security, military, law enforcement experience or related field preferred
Complete training from Atrium Health that includes but is not limited to: Non-Violent Crisis Intervention/De-escalation, and defensive tactics, within 90 days of hire
Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly, in both oral and written form

Candidate must have a minimum of four years of employment as a police officer
He/she must demonstrate good decision making, have a high level of both written and verbal communication skills
Candidate must have proven performance under stressful situations
Must successfully pass background investigation and drug screen prior to employment
Must meet P.O.S.T. mandatory yearly requirement for certification
Must attend Hospital Police mandatory training and departmental training on an annual basis
Must possess the knowledge and skills to service patients of all ages including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
Nice to have:
1 year experience in security related field
Previous security, military, law enforcement experience or related field preferred
