Job Description:

Are you a compassionate, resilient, and creative educator looking for a truly unique teaching environment? We are seeking an exceptional PMLD Teacher for a long-term temporary position within a specialist Education Service in Leicester. Working as part of a small, friendly, and supportive team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that children and young people facing significant health challenges continue to receive high-quality, meaningful education. The learning environment is highly dynamic, ranging from a dedicated classroom base to providing 1-1 teaching across various locations. This role is about providing a sense of normalcy, engagement, and sensory stimulation for pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).

Job Responsibility:

  • Bespoke Delivery: Plan and deliver highly personalised, sensory-based lessons for pupils of varying ages and abilities who are unwell or vulnerable
  • Bedside Teaching: Work flexibly across locations, adapting your teaching style to suit the clinical environment and the immediate health needs of the child
  • Collaborative Working: Partner closely with a team of HLTAs, medical professionals, and parents to ensure educational continuity and the well-being of every pupil
  • Creative Adaptation: Use and adapt existing resources with initiative and creativity to ensure every child can access learning, regardless of their medical condition

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Proven experience working with pupils with PMLD/SLD, ideally within a special school or alternative provision
  • A deep understanding of sensory curricula, alternative communication methods (such as Makaton or PECS), and engagement scales
  • Resilience and Empathy: The ability to remain professional and positive within a medical/clinical environment
  • Flexibility: A "can-do" attitude and the ability to adapt lessons at a moment's notice based on a pupil's medical status
What we offer:
  • Expert Support: Work within a tight-knit, expert team of Teachers and HLTAs who pride themselves on their supportive culture
  • Meaningful Impact: See the direct positive effect of your work on the lives of children and their families during difficult times
  • Long-Term Stability: A consistent, long-term temporary booking offering a unique addition to your teaching portfolio
