We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Plumbing Purchasing Agent to join our growing team. This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing plumbing materials, equipment, and supplies necessary to support our construction and service projects. The ideal candidate understands plumbing materials, thrives in a fast-paced construction environment, and works collaboratively with project managers, field foremen, warehouse personnel, and vendors to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
Job Responsibility:
Source and purchase plumbing materials, fixtures, equipment, and tools
Review project plans and specifications to ensure accurate and timely ordering
Obtain competitive pricing and negotiate contracts with suppliers and vendors
Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors and local suppliers
Ensure materials are delivered on time to job sites or warehouse locations
Track purchase orders and invoices
resolve discrepancies quickly and professionally
Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
Research alternative materials or suppliers to reduce costs without compromising quality
Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering and alternate sourcing
Collaborate with project managers and field foremen to forecast material needs and budgets
Stay informed on market pricing trends, supply chain changes, and product availability
Requirements:
5+ years of purchasing experience and/or field experience (plumbing or construction industry preferred)
Strong working knowledge of plumbing materials, fittings, fixtures, and equipment
Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills
Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities
Proficiency in purchasing software and Microsoft Office Suite
Experience using Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
Nice to have:
Familiarity with local plumbing suppliers and distributors
Experience working for a mechanical or plumbing contractor
Understanding of construction project cost control principles
Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Strong communication skills with both field and office teams
