At CESO, a Plumbing Project Designer I demonstrates the ability to perform a wide variety of technical assignments independently with little or no oversight for small, intermediate, or large projects and completes all necessary tasks on assigned projects so projects finish on time, within budget and consistent with industry production and care standards. The Project Designer I will continuously seek opportunities to learn and develop within the discipline with senior staff support.
Job Responsibility:
Begin to take responsibility for project designs under the Engineer of Record supervision with senior staff oversight
Communicate design requirements and assist project managers with project coordination and facilitation between architects, contractors, other engineers, equipment manufacturer representatives, and other team members to determine project scope, feasibility, and equipment needs, and provide operating procedures and technical information
Attend and participate in owner, client, or architect meetings as needed and visit project sites to verify existing conditions and/or observe construction progress
Participate in client, company, and industry events to build and maintain professional relationships
Consistently maintains proficient understanding of industry standards and regulations
Perform calculations, develop design approaches and concepts, design engineering system(s), and fulfill other duties as assigned through collaboration with junior and senior staff, and senior staff and Engineer of Record approval
Create intermediate to advanced system layouts, detail drawings, schematics, and schedules using Revit, AutoCAD or other software
Develop water, gas, and sanitary service demand calculations
Model domestic (cold, hot, hot recirculation), sanitary/vent, storm, and gas equipment and connected piping systems
Help prepare and modify studies, plans, reports, specifications, and project designs
Reviews work for technical accuracy and completeness prior to final QA/QC review
Reviews Shop Drawings and Equipment Submittals for conformance to plan documents and project specifications
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university and 5 or more years of relevant experience is preferred
Or 7 years of relevant design experience without a degree is required
Master’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering, or similar discipline, can substitute up to 1 year of work experience
Advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, AEC industry, codes and standards is required
Certified Plumbing Designer Certification is preferred
Completion of Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) and certification as an Engineering in Training (EIT) with a state licensure board is preferred
Computer skills necessary to enter daily timesheet data and use Microsoft Outlook for email correspondence
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, and BlueBeam Revu
