Under the supervision of the Senior Superintendent, performs inspection work of moderate difficulty or assists senior Construction Inspectors or a subsection of a larger construction project. Reviews design development and construction documents, specifications, and bid documents for construction features prior to release for bid; and participates in final inspection and acceptance procedures. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions and ensuring compliance with all applicable building codes, rules, regulations, laws, etc. Inspect and verify plumbing, piping, and underground utility work to confirm it operates according to design and project specifications and complies with applicable codes and standards. Identify deficiencies and make recommendations for necessary repairs or replacements. Conduct inspections of existing systems in accordance with government and UC regulations for operations. Provides Facility Condition Assessment (FCA) support to maintain and improve the campus iCamp data in support of the Building Operations shops and the deferred maintenance program. Ensures that the iCamp data is accurate and reflects the facility conditions experienced by the the Building Operations maintenance technicians. Provides management, analytical, and maintenance management system of record support for the preventative maintenance program. Reviews construction documents for proposed projects. Collects data, prepares records, and performs field studies. Inspect and verify that all plumbing and piping system and underground utility project work operates according to design intent and project specifications. Ensure conformance with all appropriate standards including but not limited to Standard California Building Codes, Uniform Building Code (UBC), Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), applicable fire codes, and Life and Safety Standards. Inspect maintenance materials, processes and work performed on construction, renovation, and installation projects of building plumbing and piping systems and underground utilities and their associated equipment and components. Identify deficiencies and make recommendations for necessary repairs or replacements. Assists in coordinating plumbing and utility work shutdowns for renovation and construction projects. Provides management, analytical, and maintenance management system support for Building Operations preventative maintenance programs. Ensures preventative work for mechanical systems are identified and that the work planned and accomplished is properly tracked through the FM work management system.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
Working knowledge of California Building Codes, Cal / OSHA, and the campus, medical center or University Construction Design Standards
Knowledge of architectural or engineering concepts
Journey level skill through demonstrated experience in the Plumbing Trade
Experience working in the areas of building plumbing and piping systems and underground utilities as they relate to domestic water, industrial water, chilled water, high temperature hot water, deionized water, gas, steam, compressed air, lab piping, closed-loop systems, water mains, seawater, sewer, and storm drain piping
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, ladder logic diagrams, system diagrams, isometric drawings, sequence of operation flow charts, schematics, plans, specifications, CAD drawings, and technical, verbal or written instruction and guidance by trade practices, manufacturer or underwriter specifications
Knowledge / skills in providing plan review services on basic improvement projects as well as code applications for replacement, repairs and upgrades of facilities or systems
Skills in reviewing and auditing, project completeness as applied to application for progress payments submitted by contractors
Good knowledge of the campus, including its infrastructure and applicable rules, regulations, policies and practices
Demonstrated verbal and interpersonal communications skills including skill to work effectively with a variety of constituents
