Job Description:

The Mechanical Engineer PFP is responsible for the design and layout of plumbing and fire protection systems.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design plumbing and fire protection portions of a project using engineering formulas and skills for ensuring safety and technical accuracy
  • Review design project for code compliance
  • Identify and select equipment from appropriate manufacturing catalogs for specific applications
  • Ability to perform on-site investigations and surveys prior to design and during construction
  • Coordinate the contract documents between engineering disciplines for architects
  • Provide technical support to contractors throughout construction
  • Perform own drafting/design using AutoCAD and/or Revit and reviews own work for accuracy
  • Perform hydraulic calculations using computer software
  • Coordinate utility requirements with local utility companies including obtaining hydrant flow test data for project sites

Requirements:

  • B.S. degree preferred in mechanical engineering with 2 to 5 years of job-related experience
  • Ability to draft using AutoCAD and Revit software
  • Strong oral and written skills
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks effectively

  • Handle projects from inception to completion including continuous interface with clients, the design team, architects and owners
