Job Responsibility:

  • Collaborating with other engineers while mentoring designers and drafters
  • Performing building system assessments, documenting existing conditions, and writing reports that provide recommendations for refurbishment or replacement
  • Writing scope of work documents for plumbing designs
  • Clearly and effectively presenting complex plumbing engineering concerns and solutions to the owner and design team
  • Conducting calculations for appropriate plumbing and/or fire protection systems and plumbing equipment selection
  • Utilizing BIM software and visualization methods to design plumbing systems and provide layouts
  • Incorporating best practices and sustainability strategies into designs
  • Ensuring projects meet client expectations and code requirements
  • Providing estimates of probable construction costs for plumbing designs
  • Coordinating with consultants and contractors
  • Research new/emerging products, equipment, and systems
  • Compiling system specifications, details, and schedules
  • Performing field observation and ensuring adherence to plumbing design intent

Requirements:

  • Four or more years of plumbing design experience for buildings in the healthcare, education, community, or commercial markets
  • A strong portfolio of work
  • Experience with Revit, BIM software, and Bluebeam preferred
  • Understanding of Wisconsin Administrative Plumbing code
  • Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD), Designer of Engineering Systems (DES) credential, or Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • LEED accreditation preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail with critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Creative approach to developing solutions for building system challenges
  • Ability to remain flexible and open to changes in project scope
  • Exceptional time management
  • Actively seeks to collaborate with diverse team members
