Grumman|Butkus Associates is adding an experienced Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer to our team based in metro Milwaukee (Wauwatosa, WI). GBA brings together the expertise of talented engineers to offer high-end, sustainable building consulting and MEP engineering services for blue-chip clients across numerous critical spaces in the built environment. Our services include design for HVAC, electrical power and lighting, low voltage systems, plumbing, medical gas, and fire protection systems, building electrification, net zero energy, commissioning, and sustainability consulting.
Job Responsibility:
Performing plumbing and fire protection design for a variety of projects, including but not limited to buildings and facilities (hospitals, laboratories, high-rise residential, hotel, office, and other commercial and institutional projects)
Incorporating design changes using Revit and/or AutoCAD software
Performing system calculations, pipe sizing, fixture selections, sprinkler selection and placement, and equipment sizing
Meeting project schedules and performing work within budgetary constraints
Attending meetings with architects, owners, and building managers to discuss future or current projects
Reviewing submittals and providing responses to Requests for Information
Conducting activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
Pursuing continuous professional development and maintaining a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
Four to 10 years of experience in the design of plumbing and fire protection systems for healthcare, higher education, high-rise residential, hotel, and office buildings, and other commercial, institutional facilities
Experience in medical gas systems design is a plus
Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD software
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook)
Excellent technical skills, strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
Comprehensive knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and in a highly collaborative team environment
PE registration is highly preferred, or FE with the ability to obtain a PE
Willingness and ability to travel as needed
Nice to have:
Experience in medical gas systems design is a plus
