A successful candidate will have strong communication and problem-solving skills to support a rewarding customer mission. He/she will perform the full range of work involved in the repair, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of plumbing related units and systems. This is full time position providing operational mission support.
Job Responsibility
Work with a wide variety of commercial and industrial systems to include those which require that the employee troubleshoots, installs, repairs, and modifies special purpose systems
Troubleshoots and repairs equipment such as that above for which specifications and technical manuals do not exist or have large gaps
Tests installed, modified, or repaired systems to ensure that specifications and equipment performance requirements are met
Will act as the lead Plumbing Technician on their assigned shift
Trains inexperienced personnel by giving on-the-job instructions and assistance
The successful candidate will be working as part of a small multi-functional trade team and will be required to assist other tradesmen if/as needed to accomplish contract required work
Perform inspections and prepares written reports
Perform cutting, fitting, connection, and installation of plumbing piping, equipment, fixtures, and systems in compliance with the International Plumbing Code or Uniform Plumbing Code
Diagnose, repair, and perform maintenance on existing plumbing systems, equipment, fixtures, and infrastructure
Advise immediate Supervisor of job progress and material/labor requirements
Use solid decision-making ability and sound judgment to safely and effectively solve problems
Proactively identify any unsafe conditions or hazards and communicate them effectively
Work directly with other departments to plan and complete tasking
Take initiative to analyze a situation and to make frequent technical decisions based on specifications, safety, and governing codes
Will be required to prepare instructional material and conduct instruction to subcontractors
Perform additional duties and projects as assigned
Requirements
Four (4) years Plumbing experience in operations and maintenance services or a current State Journeyman Plumber license or Journeyman Plumber card (or National equivalent)
A high school diploma or GED and successful completion of an Apprentice program
Work well as part of a team and independently and can handle issues with tact and diplomacy
Good organizational, time management, and communication skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions
Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective
Ability to read and interpret design drawings, specifications as required
Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum
Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors
Minimum four years of documented experience in all phases of the plumbing trade including piping, fixture installation, and service and repair of plumbing systems
Knowledge of the principles of plumbing and the current International Plumbing Code or Uniform Plumbing Code
Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills sufficient to effectively communicate with employees, management, and the client
Current State Journeyman Plumber license or Journeyman Plumber card (or National equivalent)
Certification as Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester will be required prior to offer
Certification as Backflow Prevention Assembly Repairer will be required prior to offer
Candidate must possess a valid passport of home country with a minimum of 12 months remaining to expiration date
If not currently a resident of Japan, will be expected to obtain a company-sponsored Japanese Work Visa
Applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a Japanese Driver License and be able to operate a Company provided motor vehicle on MCAS Iwakuni
Non-locally hired are expected to obtain and maintain the legal ability to operate a Company provided vehicle both on and off the installation for the purpose of commute and/or on-site transportation
Those unable to obtain and maintain the legal means to operate a motor vehicle in Japan or aboard the installation will be responsible for their own transportation for all purposes

Experience working with SOW, plumbing diagrams and blueprints
Computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
Experience with Maximo or other Computerized Maintenance Management System
