We are looking for a PLC Programmer/Automation Engineer to join a growing automation team in NW Tampa, FL area. This position focuses on developing and supporting process control solutions for bulk material handling, batching, weighing, mixing, and related industrial systems. The role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys combining PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, and field commissioning to deliver reliable automation systems across complex manufacturing environments.
Job Responsibility
Design, program, and test PLC-based control systems for industrial processing and bulk ingredient handling applications using Rockwell Automation platforms
Develop HMI and SCADA interfaces that give operators clear visibility into system performance, process status, and alarm conditions
Configure instrumentation and control devices, then support startup, tuning, and on-site commissioning to ensure systems perform as intended
Interpret process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and electrical schematics to translate engineering requirements into effective automation logic
Partner with project managers, electrical design teams, and startup personnel to coordinate implementation activities and resolve technical issues
Troubleshoot control hardware, industrial networks, drives, and connected field equipment to maintain reliable system operation
Assist with integrating third-party equipment and vendor systems into broader plant automation architectures
Travel to customer sites as needed to support validation, system checkout, operational readiness, and user training
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, automation engineering, or a closely related technical field is preferred
Hands-on experience programming Rockwell ControlLogix or similar PLC platforms in complex industrial control environments
Proficiency in ladder logic and structured programming for Allen-Bradley-based automation systems
Experience developing HMI or SCADA applications, including work with FactoryTalk View SE or ME
Ability to work with field instrumentation and apply practical knowledge during configuration, testing, and commissioning
Strong understanding of process documentation such as process flow diagrams, instrumentation diagrams, and electrical drawings
Willingness to travel on a project basis and provide support during startup and client training activities
Strong communication skills, solid computer proficiency, and a collaborative approach to team-based engineering work
