The Platform Engineer combines both software and systems engineering and takes charge of the automation, performance, stability, reliability, and scalability of IT infrastructure and services for critical investment banking applications. Job Responsibility:
Design and build infrastructure that will support an ever-growing set of records to be used by financial institutions worldwide
Design and deploy systems to streamline the deployment of new software and ease the burden of supporting said new software
Automate server provisioning processes to reduce human intervention
Maintain system uptime and availability
Maintain production systems by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health
Requisitioning new infrastructure to anticipate and address growing volumes
Test the resiliency of IT operations
Problem and incident management and root-causes analysis on high severity outages
Deploy changes and upgrades to the platform on weekends for major releases
Requirements:
At least 2–3 years of DevOps/Platform Engineering experience
Strong proficiency and practical mastery of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
Experience working with cloud services
AWS preferred but not required
Experience in one or more of the following: Shell script, Python, Ruby, Java, or JavaScript
Hands-on experience with various CI/CD and defining build/test/deploy pipelines in code
Software development or scripting background with experience in automating builds, deployments, and operations
Strong working knowledge of networking
Strong Linux administration skills
Experience using configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
Hands-on experience in executing and delivering design solutions
Security-conscious with applied knowledge of cryptographic algorithms, secure communication protocols, and secrets management systems
Ability to learn internal coding languages and understand business logic within the production codebase
Ability to bring unique solutions and think creatively to solve infrastructure challenges
Availability for on-call support to address production issues or incidents
Nice to have:
Banking/financial industry experience is an advantage
