Job Description:

The Department of Surgery at Atrium Health (AH) is seeking a full time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for the Division of Plastic Surgery. The Division of Plastic Surgery has 10 surgeons and 4 APPs in the Division. Plastic and Reconstructive Surgical services are performed at AH Carolinas Medical Center (the region’s only Level 1 Trauma Center), AH Cabarrus, and AH Union West.

Job Responsibility:

  • Working with surgeons one on one in the OR
  • IP rounding
  • minor bedside surgical procedures
  • call coverage
  • may include 1 outpatient clinic shift weekly as needed
  • Assist Surgeons in reconstructive plastic surgery on adult and pediatric patients
  • Inpatient work comprising of 2-5 scheduled cases per day, with variable monthly call rotation shared with residents and providers
  • primary first assist to surgeons who focus on head/neck reconstruction, pediatric craniofacial surgery, cutaneous malignancy reconstruction, breast reconstruction, orthopedic reconstruction, and OMFS trauma

Requirements:

  • Must have or be eligible for a DEA license
  • Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works
  • Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC required
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice
  • Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and make proactive decisions
  • Three years of relative experience and/or surgical background preferred
  • Experience as a first assist and management of inpatient post-operative patients preferred
  • Experience and confidence taking first call for a surgical service
  • Physician Assistant – Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred

Nice to have:

  • Three years of relative experience and/or surgical background
  • Experience as a first assist and management of inpatient post-operative patients
  • Experience and confidence taking first call for a surgical service
  • Master’s Degree
