Job Description:

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily operations of the assigned shift across the York Plant. The Shift Supervisor will oversee weekend shifts and act as a floating Supervisor throughout the week to further ensure safety and quality standards are met and production efficiency maintained. Schedule is a 12 hour night shift. 6p-6a. 3/1/3 rotating schedule. Employee works holidays if scheduled. This position is 1 of 4 plant supervisors (2 day, 2 night) with the intent to cover the Plant with 24/7, 365 day coverage.

Job Responsibility:

  • Promote a culture of safety across the York Plant and champion the York Safety Transformation by setting a positive example and leading through VFL
  • Drive change and champion the Company culture by promoting the values and principles of RHI Magnesita
  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment
  • Conduct regular safety and quality checks to ensure standards are being met and maintained
  • Act as the on-site Management Representative, including incident commander, for night and weekend shifts
  • Provide leadership and support to supervisors and team members during weekend shifts
  • Act as a floating Supervisor across operations departments throughout the week to provide additional support and flexibility during weekday operations
  • Work directly with the Management Team, Supervisor Team, Technical Experts, and Team Members to ensure alignment and adherence to daily objectives and goals
  • Coordinate and optimize integrated production for the site
  • ensure run plans are followed
  • ensure any special operations are planned and executed safely and accurately
  • Promote cross-department collaboration and accountability
  • Lead site-wide shift OBEYA meetings
  • Maintain quality control standards and ensure production meets internal quality guidelines
  • Align with Production Schedulers to ensure adherence to production schedules and deadlines
  • Review and analyze production records to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions
  • Monitor production processes and make recommendations for improvements
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including shift reports and performance metrics
  • Manage performance and provide training to team members
  • Identify and resolve operational issues quickly and effectively
  • Escalate issues promptly as needed
  • Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with team members and other staff
  • Align with Maintenance to ensure that production equipment runs safely and efficiently
  • Constantly work to improve processes and elevate suggestions made by the team
  • Participate in the development of IMS-Documentation (procedural and work instruction)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience is required
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • In-depth understanding of safety regulations and manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with quality control methodologies and tools, such as statistical process control and root cause analysis
  • Experience with process optimization, 6S/Lean practices and principles, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work effectively under pressure
  • Microsoft proficiency (Word, Outlook, Excel), Power BI and SAP
