The Plant Production Manager is responsible for leading and managing plant production operations for multiple departments, which includes production output, plant metrics, quality, safety, and materials utilization. This position will work proactively with plant management and operations managers to ensure a high level of plant performance, provide quality and timely delivery to Homebuilding operations, and identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities. The Operations Manager will lead, coach, and develop a team of supervisors and hourly employees and will participate in plant and Manufacturing projects, as needed.
Job Responsibility:
Manage production and schedule requirements and output for multiple plant departments
Partner with plant operations leadership to develop accurate projections and ensure a balanced schedule
Adjust staffing, materials, and other resources to ensure achievement of operational metrics and timely shipments
Lead execution of quality initiatives and built-in quality checks
Ensure alignment, coordination, and cross training between value streams
Provide leadership, training, and auditing on safety best practices
Monitor key metrics within area of responsibility
Align production equipment usage with plant Maintenance department and capital planning
Manage spending in plant accounts
Resolve escalated issues from Homebuilding, vendors, employees, and other NVR departments
Focus on creating a high level of employee engagement
Develop a high-performing team through selection, onboarding, coaching, training, and development
Identify and recommend improvements to production methods, equipment, operating procedures, quality standards, efficiencies, and safety/working conditions
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required
MBA preferred
5+ years of progressive leadership and management experience (Manufacturing experience strongly preferred)
Experience with Lean and continuous improvement preferred
Excellent problem-analysis, critical thinking, and strategic planning abilities
Experience communicating effectively with all levels of the organization
Outstanding collaboration and conflict management abilities
Strong customer orientation
Excellent reliability, with strong planning and organizational skills
Focus on driving improvements within the organization and ability to influence others
Demonstrated proficiency in managing multiple tasks, setting priorities, decision-making, adapting, and meeting deadlines
Ability to travel to other plants and locations, as needed
