Job Description:

The HR Generalist position will work closely with the Manager of Human Resources and other business partners in support of the Baxter Manufacturing Operations. This role will be responsible for human resources activities such as recruiting, development and retention of talent, and employee relations. In addition, you will have labor relations responsibility for the factory production workforce (United Steelworkers 525U) and Over-the-Road Drivers (Teamsters 135).

Job Responsibility:

  • Partner with HR Manager, line managers and their teams to facilitate achievement of business objectives and goals
  • Provide expertise in areas of HR such as labor/employee relations, leave management, benefit resource, performance management, talent acquisition, change management, leadership development and diversity
  • Interpret and implement Company policies, as well as Global, Federal, and Provincial laws and regulations/protect the interest of employees and the Company in accordance with company policies, governmental laws, and regulations
  • Partner with Baxter’s external Recruiting Process Outsourcing vendor to lead the recruitment, selection, and onboarding process
  • Collaborate with supervisors to review and make recommendation for title, level, and compensation changes. Partner with the HR Manager and the Corporate Compensation team
  • Investigate and resolve employee/labor relations issues as needed
  • Mentor and counsel managers and employees in all areas of performance management and HR processes and policies
  • Create and/or deliver effective communications and/or training programs as needed

  • 3+ years human resources experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Experience with manufacturing operations, union environment preferred
  • experience in a 24/7 operation with 3 shifts, ideal
  • Prior experience supporting a large employee population (200 preferred) to include bargaining/union, non-exempt and exempt preferred
  • Understanding of all functional HR subject areas with specific strength in employee and/or labor relations and talent acquisition (HRIS/metrics, employee relations, recruitment, employee engagement, performance management, etc.)
  • Adept at using an applicant tracking system/ATS (Workday preferred), an HRIS system (PeopleSoft or other system), and e-time system
  • Strong influencing, facilitating skills and ability to proactively motivate change
