The Plant Head will lead the wind turbine blade manufacturing operations with full P&L responsibility, overseeing end-to-end manufacturing processes, managing a workforce of 2000+ employees, and ensuring operational excellence in quality, safety, cost, and delivery. This role requires strong technical expertise in composite manufacturing, exceptional leadership capabilities, and proven experience in scaling operations within the renewable energy or heavy manufacturing sector.
Job Responsibility:
Lead end-to-end manufacturing operations for wind turbine blade production, ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols
Manage daily operations across all departments including production, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and logistics
Drive operational excellence initiatives to optimize manufacturing efficiency, reduce cycle time, and improve throughput
Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance productivity and eliminate waste
Lead and mentor a diverse workforce of 2000+ employees including engineers, technicians, operators, and support staff
Build high-performance teams through effective talent acquisition, development, succession planning, and performance management
Foster a culture of safety, quality, innovation, and continuous improvement across the organization
Manage industrial relations, employee engagement initiatives, and organizational development programs
Develop and execute strategic plans aligned with corporate objectives, market trends, and customer requirements
Conduct market analysis, SWOT assessments, and competitive benchmarking to identify growth opportunities
Collaborate with business development teams to support new product launches and capacity expansion projects
Drive technology adoption and process innovations to maintain competitive advantage
Manage plant P&L, ensuring achievement of revenue targets, cost optimization, and profitability goals
Develop and monitor annual operating budgets, capital expenditure plans, and financial forecasts
Implement cost control measures and track key performance indicators including cost per blade, manufacturing variances, and operational efficiency metrics
Apply earned value management principles for project tracking and financial performance analysis
Oversee end-to-end supply chain operations including sourcing, vendor management, inventory control, and material planning
Establish strategic partnerships with key suppliers ensuring quality, cost competitiveness, and on-time delivery
Negotiate contracts, manage supplier performance reviews, and ensure compliance with procurement policies and legal requirements
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align material requirements with production schedules
Champion safety culture and ensure zero-harm workplace through robust EHS programs and risk management practices
Drive quality excellence ensuring products meet international standards and customer specifications
Ensure compliance with ISO certifications, environmental regulations, and industry standards
Implement Six Sigma and quality management systems to reduce defects and improve first-pass yield
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring satisfaction, retention, and long-term partnerships
Communicate effectively with senior leadership, board members, and external stakeholders on plant performance, strategic initiatives, and business updates
Manage commercial negotiations, contract administration, and cash collection activities
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline
Minimum 15-20 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 8-10 years in senior leadership roles
Proven track record of managing large-scale manufacturing facilities with workforce size of 2000+ employees
Direct experience in wind turbine blade manufacturing, composite materials, or similar complex manufacturing environment
Experience in renewable energy, aerospace, automotive, or heavy industrial sectors with demonstrated P&L responsibility
Success in leading operational transformations, greenfield/brownfield expansions, and technology adoption initiatives
Strong background in project management, including capital projects above $50M USD
