BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as Plant & Customer Quality Engineer at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the introduction of new products and processes, ensuring compliance with customer requirements
  • Lead problem solving activities for internal and external quality issues (8D, Ishikawa, 5Whys) ensuring effective resolution
  • Keep production quality KPI’s updated (PPM, Scrap, FTQ, RPPM, Block stock, Quality Claims)
  • Work with production and manufacturing Teams in identifying route causes and implementing corrective actions
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement projects, identifying opportunities to reduce defects and increase efficiency
  • Train and support production Teams on quality best practices and problem-solving methodologies
  • Ensure PDT (temporary deviations) are in place for each product or process deviation
  • Plan and analyse statistical process data to ensure the stability of manufacturing process
  • Define and validate control plans to ensure product quality is according to the customer requirement
  • Responsible for PPAP documentation and responsible for annual project requalification
  • Participate in customer meetings and plant visits related to quality issues acting as the main point of contact
  • Monitor and analyse quality indicators such as PPM, RPPM, Scrap, and FTQ to ensure products meet defined quality standards
  • Comply with safety, quality, productivity, hygiene and environmental prevention standards
  • Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, Practice and Schedule
  • Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules
  • Respect and comply with environmental policy rules
  • Perform other duties and tasks on assigned special projects and assignments not included in the activity for which was hired, when the needs or convenience of the service justify it, for the period necessary for the said needs or conveniences of service

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering
  • Two or more years of experience as Plant Quality Engineer and/or Customer Quality Engineer (in automotive industry is a plus)
  • Strong knowledge of problem-solving tools (8D, FMEA, SPC, MSA, APQP, PPAP)
  • IATF 16949 qualification (is a plus)
  • Familiarity with industry standards (VDA 6.3, ISO 9001)
  • Ability to read and interpret Technical drawing
  • Experience in working with customers to resolve quality concerns and improve product performance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Fluent in English
  • Fluent in Portuguese

Nice to have:

  • IATF 16949 qualification
  • Experience in automotive industry
