We are partnering with a well-established manufacturing operation in the greater Smithville area seeking a Plant Controller to support a critical phase of operational and financial optimization. This is a high-impact, onsite contract role. This position will serve as a key business partner to plant leadership, providing financial insights, strengthening cost controls, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting in a dynamic production environment.
Job Responsibility
Lead all plant-level accounting and finance activities, including month-end close, variance analysis, and financial reporting
Partner with operations leadership to analyze production performance, cost drivers, and margin improvement opportunities
Own standard costing processes, including maintenance, updates, and variance analysis (labor, material, overhead)
Monitor inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes
Develop and enhance internal controls and best practices across the plant finance function
Prepare forecasts, budgets, and operational performance metrics
Support ERP data integrity and reporting accuracy across manufacturing and finance modules
Provide actionable financial insights to drive decision-making at the plant level
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including significant experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong background in cost accounting and standard costing methodologies
Experience working within large ERP systems in a manufacturing setting
Demonstrated ability to partner with operations and translate financial data into business insights
Hands-on, detail-oriented approach with the ability to operate effectively in an onsite environment
Nice to have
Prior experience in an interim or project-based leadership role
Exposure to complex manufacturing operations
Experience improving processes, controls, or reporting structures during periods of transition
