We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Plant Controller to join our team in Wayne, Michigan. In this role, you will provide essential financial leadership and analysis to support operational decisions and strategic initiatives at the plant level. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of accounting and financial management, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Job Responsibility:
Act as a trusted financial advisor to the Plant Manager and leadership team, offering insights to enhance profitability and operational efficiency
Analyze plant financial performance, develop key performance indicators, and provide variance explanations against budgets, forecasts, and prior periods
Manage plant accounting functions, including month-end close processes, cost accounting, inventory valuation, and reconciliations
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in alignment with company policies and accounting standards
Oversee the preparation of tax-related schedules and filings, including federal and state taxes, property taxes, and other local levies
Lead the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, collaborating with operations to align financial plans with production goals
Monitor cost control measures, analyze variances, and provide detailed insights to optimize efficiency and reduce waste
Support decision-making processes by conducting make-versus-buy analyses, pricing evaluations, and margin assessments
Participate in operational reviews and management meetings to ensure alignment of financial and operational objectives
Supervise and mentor the plant finance and accounting team, driving a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
A minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing finance, including cost accounting and financial reporting
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide actionable business insights
Proficiency in financial systems and advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling
Demonstrated leadership capabilities and excellent communication skills
In-depth knowledge of standard costing, inventory control, and manufacturing operations
Experience managing month-end close processes and preparing accurate financial reports
Familiarity with bill of materials (BOM) and cost analysis in a manufacturing setting
