Job Description

Our client, a GROWING manufacturing company is seeking a Plant Controller due to an upcoming retirement. The Plant Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the manufacturing facility, ensuring accurate reporting, strong cost controls, and operational financial support. This role is a key member of the executive team and partners closely with the VP of Operations and CEO to drive profitability.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements for the plant
  • Manage month-end close activities including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
  • Maintain and analyze actual costing within the manufacturing environment
  • Conduct variance analysis (labor, material, overhead) and provide actionable insights to operations
  • Calculate and monitor overhead and labor rates
  • Support inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes
  • Partner with operations to identify cost reduction and process improvement opportunities
  • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes for the plant
  • Develop financial models to support operational planning and capital investments
  • Track performance against budget and provide variance explanations
  • Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and payroll functions at the plant level
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor payments and customer invoicing
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital performance
  • Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA or CMA certification a plus
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong background in cost accounting (standard/actual costing)
  • Hands-on leadership experience overseeing AP, AR, and payroll functions
  • ERP experience required
  • PLEX experience a plus
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to partner effectively with operations

  • CPA or CMA certification
