Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Plant Accountant to join our team in Independence, Missouri. This role is essential in managing financial activities, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and supporting operational efficiency within the plant. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of accounting principles and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure the integrity of financial records
  • Prepare and post journal entries, verifying supporting documentation for accuracy
  • Conduct account reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies
  • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow activities
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and insights
  • Collaborate with plant management to analyze financial performance and provide actionable recommendations
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports
  • Provide training and guidance to entry level accounting staff as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Proven experience in accounting, preferably within a manufacturing or plant environment
  • Strong proficiency in month-end close, general ledger maintenance, and journal entry preparation
  • Demonstrated expertise in account and bank reconciliations
  • Familiarity with accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse teams
