Our client is seeking a Planning/Scheduling Engineer to work within their facilities located in Houston, TX, for a 12-month assignment. The Senior Planning/Scheduling Engineer (EPC) is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules to support the execution of EPC projects. This role involves collaborating with project teams to develop detailed work plans, monitor progress against timelines, milestones, and identify schedule risks and opportunities.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 scheduling software
Collaborate with project teams to develop detailed work plans and schedules for engineering, procurement, subcontracts, construction, and commissioning activities
Monitor progress against project schedules timelines and milestones and identify schedule variances and risks
Analyze schedule impacts of changes to project scope, resources, or priorities and develop mitigation strategies
Prepare schedule reports and presentations to communicate schedule status and performance to project stakeholders
Provide recommendations to optimize project schedules, including resource leveling, critical path analysis, and schedule compression
Coordinate with project teams to resolve schedule-related issues and conflicts
Participate in project meetings and reviews to provide schedule updates and recommendations
Develop and report critical path plans and related schedules for the project(s)
Apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out planning and scheduling engineering tasks supporting the management of the project
Facilitate the preparation of the project plan and schedule and provide accurate and timely status of the project plan
Follow company's established standard processes, procedures and formats required for corporate reporting and deliverables
Be an active member of the PC Team collaborating and supporting project specific strategies and deliverables
Participate in establishing initial plans by implementing company templates and facilitating interactive planning sessions with key project team members
Assist in the development of schedule breakdown structures
Prepare drafts of network logic diagrams for segments or the entire project as applicable
Perform forward and backward pass assessments during the preparation of the project schedule and provide critical path analysis highlighting pertinent start and finish dates of milestones and activities
Compile, organize planning information, and prepare the related project schedules versions with different levels of detail and criteria including the preliminary, 90 day lookahead and master schedule
Utilize Primavera P6 as scheduling and reporting tool
Review short-cycle schedule impacts and prepare CPM project schedule analysis
Be responsible for resource loading the project schedule
Collect, validate, and integrate schedule and earned value progress information from vendors and contractors
Perform detailed analysis on vendor and contractor schedules
Prepare different tabular and graphical schedule timeline and resources reports as required
May collect historical engineering, procurement and construction data for reporting, metrics, and performance analysis
May perform schedule health checks and risk analysis
Assist in the integration of project changes in the schedule forecast
Assist in developing alternatives to accommodate changes and priorities
Attend project meetings and participate by providing the applicable reports
Facilitate meetings with key project team members, vendors, and contractors to address and update the project schedule status and forecast
Provide proactive and accurate schedule management assessments to assist the project management team
Collect vendors and subcontractor schedules and provide effective analysis and reporting of status, and impact to the critical path and overall integrated schedule
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field
Vast experience working as a planning/scheduling engineer or project controls specialist in EPC mega projects in the oil and gas, petrochemicals, and industrial gases industries
15+ years of experience may be accepted in leu of bachelor’s degree
Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling software
Proven experience in the application of project management principles and techniques, including schedule development, resource management, earned value management, and risk management/analysis
