Job Responsibility:
Develop and implement strategic planning frameworks, methodologies, and best practices across multiple projects and organizational initiatives
Lead comprehensive planning processes including feasibility studies, site analysis, regulatory assessments, and stakeholder engagement strategies
Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, government agencies, and community stakeholders to ensure integrated planning approaches
Manage planning documentation including master plans, zoning applications, environmental assessments, and regulatory submissions
Conduct market analysis, demographic studies, and economic impact assessments to inform planning decisions and recommendations
Navigate complex regulatory environments including zoning codes, land use regulations, environmental requirements, and permitting processes
Facilitate public consultation processes, community meetings, and stakeholder workshops to gather input and build consensus
Review and evaluate planning proposals, development applications, and design submissions for compliance and strategic alignment
Develop planning timelines, budgets, and resource allocation strategies while monitoring progress against established milestones
Identify and mitigate planning risks including regulatory challenges, community opposition, and environmental constraints
Prepare planning reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management, clients, and regulatory authorities
Stay current with planning legislation, policy changes, industry trends, and emerging best practices in urban and regional planning
Lead cross-functional planning teams and provide mentorship to junior planning staff and consultants
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, or related field required
Minimum 7-10 years of progressive planning experience
Professional planning certification (AICP, CIP, or equivalent) strongly preferred
Proficiency in planning software including GIS applications, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and data analysis tools
Strong understanding of planning legislation, zoning regulations, environmental assessment processes, and development approval procedures
Experience with public consultation processes, stakeholder engagement, and community relations
Excellent research and analytical skills with ability to synthesize complex information and data
Demonstrated leadership abilities with proven track record of successfully managing planning initiatives and teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex planning concepts to diverse audiences
Knowledge of market analysis techniques, demographic research, and economic impact assessment methodologies
Ability to work effectively in political and regulatory environments while maintaining professional objectivity
