Job Description

As the Carter’s Wholesale team continues to thrive, we are looking for a strategic, analytical, and flexible Planning/Allocation Analyst to join our team. This role analyzes sales trends, inventory levels, and demand forecasts to optimize product allocation across stores and distribution centers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Monitor distribution center flow and store-level inventory to proactively address potential stockouts or excess inventory
  • Support new item launches, modular transitions, and seasonal programs
  • Manage the on-order file and customer allocations to ensure accurate and timely shipments
  • Achieve inventory in-stock goals through monitoring both account and corporate stock positions
  • Communicate risks and opportunities related to demand shifts, supply disruptions, or promotional lift
  • Generate performance reports and provide actionable insights to Sales and Supply Chain teams
  • Collaborate with forecasting, production planning, and logistics teams to ensure alignment between supply and demand
  • Assist in resolving allocation discrepancies or fulfillment issues
  • Update and enhance reporting to best support inventory planning and allocations
  • report on metrics such as sell-thru, productivity, weeks/months of supply, and fill rates to internal/external customers
  • Conduct store analysis on sales performance and inventory quality, identifying store needs by sku for sell-through improvement
  • Provide ad hoc business reports and analysis as needed supporting leadership
  • Participate and present in key business meetings
  • Continually strive to improve quality of information, analytical techniques, processes and systems

Requirements

  • 1-2 years’ experience in retail/wholesale planning, allocation and business analysis
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, lookup functions, data analysis)
  • Familiarity with retail reporting systems and supply chain tools
  • Ability to translate data into strategic allocation decisions
  • Strong communication and relationship skills for cross-functional and retailer-facing collaboration
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Provide insight to sales team related to their performance in predicting non-statistical factors affecting demand for assigned customer accounts
  • Strategic Sales Forecast for assigned customer accounts (20% of time allocated to responsibilities)
  • Reconcile statistical calculations, historic trends, sales feedback, new business information, and market updates to generate the best possible estimation on each round of the Strategic Forecast.
