Job Description

We are looking for an organised and proactive Planner and Purchaser to join our team. This is a key role responsible for ensuring materials, components, and services are available to support production and customer demand. Working closely with suppliers and internal departments, you will manage production planning, purchasing activities, and inventory levels to keep operations running efficiently and cost-effectively. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with planning or purchasing experience within a manufacturing or production environment who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational role.

Job Responsibility

  • Plan and maintain production and material schedules in line with customer demand and manufacturing requirements
  • Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of quantities, pricing, item details, and delivery dates
  • Monitor stock levels and inventory accuracy, taking action to prevent shortages or excess stock
  • Liaise with suppliers to confirm lead times, resolve supply issues, and maintain continuity of supply
  • Work closely with production, warehouse, operations, and finance teams to support efficient planning and purchasing activities
  • Review supplier performance relating to pricing, quality, and delivery, escalating risks where required
  • Support forecasting, material requirements planning, and schedule adjustments in response to changing demand or production issues
  • Maintain accurate information within ERP/MRP systems and produce reports on purchasing, stock, and supply performance

Requirements

  • Previous experience in production planning, purchasing, procurement, or supply chain administration, ideally within a manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of stock control, procurement processes, and material planning
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and supplier relationship management skills
  • Confident IT user with experience of ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to delays, shortages, or changing production requirements
