We are seeking a Pipeline Integrity Engineer or Technologist (Deformation Management) to support a diverse team of engineers working to effectively implement our pipe integrity program to ensure the safe operations of our pipeline systems, and compliance with regulations.
Job Responsibility:
Perform defect assessment on pipe deformation related pipe imperfections (dents, wrinkles, ripples, buckles, and ovalities) by analyzing relevant ILI data and pipeline information
Identify potential deformation defects requiring inspection and remediation from defect assessment
enter work units in Pipe Integrity Master Plan with relevant details for program planning
Ensure data quality and completion for accurate ILI analysis by collaborating with ILI vendors and internal stakeholders
Collaborate with other Integrity Threat teams to identify and manage threat interactions
Provide timely technical support to various teams (Pipe Operations, Operations Planning, Crossings, Assessment & Repairs, Regulatory groups, Special Permits, Capital Projects, etc.)
Support integrity excavation programs by providing technical guidance on safe excavation pressure determination and repair decisions, reviewing excavation results, and prescribe any follow-up integrity activities as necessary
Write engineering assessments, technical memos and reports as required
Support the US Dent Engineering Critical Assessment (ECA) program by identifying Dent ECA candidates and compiling Dent ECA packages
Support management with data collections for key performance indicators (KPI) and business metrics
Support regulatory engagement and reporting activities for Canadian and US regulators
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or Diploma in Engineering Technology
Eligible to be registered with APEGA as a member (EIT or P.Eng.) or ASET as a C.E.T.
2+ years of pipeline integrity experience, knowledge and prior exposure to pipe deformation threat management
Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, US and Mexico)
Nice to have:
Working knowledge of PHMSA 49 CFR 192 and CSA Z662 integrity-related requirements, including changes within the latest revisions
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and interpret large amounts of data for timely deliverables
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to convey information effectively to a variety of stakeholders and to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment
Experience with analyzing ILI data is a strong asset
Experience in coding and developing automation tools to process large amounts of data is a strong asset
Experience in Dent Engineering Critical Assessment (ECA) is an asset
