Installs or repairs water, steam, gas or other types of pipe and pipefitting. This position is located at the United States Naval Academy. Our mission is providing highly responsive and quality facility support to the midshipmen, staff, faculty and sailors located in Annapolis at USNA and Naval Support Annapolis.
Job Responsibility:
Lay out work and measuring to locate position of pipe from drawings or other written specifications
Cut various sizes of pipe to correct lengths with chisel and hammer, oxyacetylene torch or pipe cutting machines
Thread pipe with stocks and dies
Bend pipe by hand-driven or power-driven machines
Assemble pipe with couplings and fastening pipe to hangers
Make standard shop computations relating to pressures, flow and size of pipe required
Make standard tests to determine whether finished pipes meet specifications
Requirements:
Journeyman Pipefitter with welding certification
Rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Possess a broad knowledge of facility operations and maintenance
Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions
Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, individual granted refugee status in the U.S., or individual granted asylum in the U.S.)
