The Physiotherapist role within the Hospice is for someone who has the passion to develop a service alongside working with a close-knit, compassionate MDT. At The Prince of Wales Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care in a supportive and respectful environment. Our 14-bed inpatient unit, located just minutes from Junction 32 of the M62 in Pontefract, also offers outpatient and community services, including a successful Lymphoedema clinic.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver high-quality physiotherapy across all hospice services
Independently manage a caseload of people with complex, life-limiting conditions
Use evidence-based and person-centred approaches to maximise functional ability, comfort and quality of life
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate physiotherapy interventions, adapting care to meet changing needs
Contribute to the development of physiotherapy and wellbeing services
Lead defined projects
Support education, training and service innovation across the Hospice
Work closely with patients, families and carers, supporting informed choice, goal setting and self-management
Act as an advocate where appropriate
Requirements:
Degree-level qualification in Physiotherapy and HCPC registration
Substantial post-qualification experience and ability to work autonomously
Strong assessment, clinical reasoning and care planning skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including working with complex and sensitive situations
Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Commitment to evidence-based practice, audit and service development
Nice to have:
Experience in palliative care, oncology or community settings
Postgraduate study or specialist training
Experience of education, supervision or project leadership
