An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join Nottingham CityCares Integrated Respiratory and Home Oxygen Service to work 30 hours per week in a variety of settings. The Integrated Respiratory and Oxygen Service are a very proactive, forward thinking and dynamic team which provide evidence based assessment and follow up for individuals requiring urgent and routine respiratory management and provision of oxygen therapy in the community as well as rehabilitation and education in both home and clinic settings.
Job Responsibility:
To assess respiratory patients and provide appropriate care including Pulmonary Rehabilitation sessions or home based treatment depending on patient agreed goals
To provide specialist advice, assessment and treatment for patients with a respiratory condition within the community and to support patients in respiratory exacerbation in an aim to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions
To provide specialist advice, assessment and treatments for patients being assessed for, or already on oxygen with respiratory and non-respiratory conditions
To work cohesively with other health professionals/agencies through the respiratory service referral process in order to ensure effective treatment management and planning for those with a respiratory condition
As an autonomous practitioner you will undertake comprehensive respiratory and/or home oxygen assessment for patients requiring urgent and chronic respiratory disease management or oxygen therapy
To undertake acute visits for patients needing assessment and advice
To educate and advise patients under the Integrated Respiratory and Oxygen Service patient pathway and those involved with working with the patient including other health and social care workers, students or carers
To be responsible for maintaining high standards of clinical practice utilising evidence-based practice
To provide line management responsibilities and mentorship to clinical staff and peers working within the specialty
To work collaboratively and across organisational boundaries to provide evidence-based practice and holistic care to patients in a variety of settings
To be responsible for the safe use of equipment and physical resources in the course of clinical duties
Requirements:
Post graduate experience of caring for patients with a variety of different Respiratory conditions including Asthma, COPD, Bronchiectasis and Interstitial lung disease
Willingness to learn or post registration experience of carrying out a full respiratory patient assessment
Willing to undertake Ear Lobe Blood Gas Competency Package
Understanding of multi- disciplinary and/or multi agency working within a community setting
Experience of working between primary and secondary care setting
BSc Hons Physiotherapy or equivalent
HCPC registered Physiotherapist
Able to work effectively in a team, supporting others and challenging colleagues views and attitudes when necessary
Able assess a situation, set priorities and problem solve quickly and effectively
Awareness of HCPC professional codes of conduct
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Able to assess clinical risk
Effective time management skills
Evidence of development of clinical skills
Able to supervise and delegate to junior staff
Excellent IT skills
Ability to be flexible over hours worked within contracted hours to meet the needs of the service
Ability to work out of hours
Full driving licence, access to a vehicle and the ability to travel between locations
To participate in and fulfil the requirements of the Directors on-call arrangements
Applicants must have current UK professional registration
