Job Description:

We are looking for a full time Band 6 MSK Physiotherapists to provide a high quality and an effective musculoskeletal outpatient physiotherapy service at various locality sites in Swindon. The band 6 rotations will include Spinal, Upper Limb, Lower Limb, Amputees,Pain, alongside general outpatients and may include access to specialist services such as hands and rheumatology, with support from specialist supervisors.

Job Responsibility:

  • To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with a range musculoskeletal conditions presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions
  • To provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme
  • To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type
  • To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner
  • To supervise band 5 physiotherapists and participate in their personal and professional development including In-Service-Training
  • To delegate to assistants and other staff where appropriate
  • To supervise, educate and assess the performance of physiotherapy students
  • Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and teams clinical practice within each rotation
  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work
  • To set appropriate therapeutic goals based on accurate prognosis for patients to monitor outcomes, evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment required to ensure effective discharge

Requirements:

  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • MCSP
  • HCPC
  • Professional knowledge acquired through accredited degree in physiotherapy, supplemented by specialist MSK training or experience in specialist MSK fields to post graduate diploma level or equivalent
  • Relevant band 5 rotations, including outpatients and orthopaedics
  • Experience of working in GP practice, triage or assessment clinics
  • Experience of supervising students
  • Sound understanding of clinical governance
  • Experience of working with assistant staff
  • Understanding the importance of confidentiality

  • Trains patients in the use of orthopaedic braces, prostheses, and supportive/assistive devices (canes, crutches, walkers)
