The Department of Ophthalmology at The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a dedicated Cornea Specialist to join our team! This faculty position offers a blend of clinical care, teaching, and research opportunities, tailored to the candidate's experience and interests.

Job Responsibility:

  • Providing comprehensive clinical care
  • Participating in on-call duties as part of a shared faculty rotation
  • Supervising and mentoring medical students and residents in both clinical and surgical settings
  • Contributing to the department's didactic teaching program
  • Engaging in clinical research
  • Sharing research findings at national and regional conferences

Requirements:

  • Medical Degree (MD or equivalent)
  • Board certification or eligibility in Ophthalmology

  • Performs basic diagnostic tests and visual screenings, such as: visual field/acuity, tonometry / glaucoma pressures / applanations, topography, color vision testing, lensometry, blood pressure, pupil testing, scribing and measurement of the cornea using a keratometer
  • Assists patients with ordering and dispensing glasses and contact lenses
  • Maintains and calibrates equipment
  • Sterilizes instruments using appropriate technique and procedures
  • Assists with scheduling patients for post-operative, surgery and specialist appointment
