Job Responsibility

Supervises sonographers and clerical staff in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) Ultrasound
Managing the day-to-day operations of these locations with responsibility for staff, equipment, budgets, and quality of patient care
Develops, applies, and enforces laboratory policies
Responsible for the Ultrasound staff, including full technical and professional performance accountability
Creates, develops, and enforces departmental personnel policies
Conducts performance evaluations, hires, applies corrective discipline including termination and engages in performance improvement plans
Manages the daily patient schedule and assigns sonographers accordingly across all sites
Accountable for the efficient operation of all sites
Continuously monitors the throughput of patients and utilizes staff accordingly with regard to special procedures and application of each sonographer's unique skills and availability

Job Responsibility

Performs limited ultrasound procedures as prescribed by a physician including positions patients for the proper view of the affected area
selects the appropriate scan images to be recorded
obtains essential information from patients, medical records, and previous scans and documentation for clinical correlation
Performs and accesses fetal movement and nonstress test
Instructs patients about the proper physiological requirements for the procedure
helps patient transfer to exam table and ensures adequate patient immobilization to perform the scan
knows how to change scanning parameters to improve a scan
Obtains screening sonographic images by scanning the appropriate body part of the patient with the transducer
provides documentation of ultrasound exam sufficient for physicians to interpret
Assists physicians with ultrasound guided procedures in inpatient and ambulatory settings
