Physician Assistant

• Function as a provider of patient care for patients receiving treatment in the Infusion Center
• Provide patient care oversight, including management of toxicities and/or reactions to IV treatments
• Provide patient care coverage for our various Moores Cancer Center infusion locations

• Must be a graduate from a physician assistant program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
• California Physician Assistant (PA) license
• Current PA Certification from NCCPA
• Current ART certification, or BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date
• One (1) or more years of recent work experience as a licensed Physician Assistant in heme/onc, infusion, and/or internal medicine with a strong focus on patients with hematologic or oncologic conditions
• Theoretical background in: anatomy, physiology, general medicine, pulmonary, emergency and critical care medicine, management of common diseases, concepts of medicine and surgery, therapeutics including pharmacology, counseling techniques and interpersonal dynamics
• Proven ability to perform initial history, and physical examination, identify major medical problems, and formulate appropriate plans of action
• Demonstrated knowledge of common diagnostic tests, exams, and procedures used in a clinic setting
• Must understand purpose, required supplies and/or equipment, how to perform procedure accurately, infection control, and accurate documentation of medical chart
• Demonstrates advanced clinical judgment and critical thinking skills to assess and manage patients in an oncologic outpatient setting
• Demonstrates ability to independently manage patients in a fast-paced setting, using evidence-based clinical judgment and appropriate escalation of care
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary care
• Strong verbal and written communication and documentation skills, with the ability to guide care teams and educate patients and families. Consistently demonstrates professionalism, empathy, and kindness to staff and patients
• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs
• Must be able to obtain UCSD Medical Staff privileges and maintain during employment
• Due to advanced practice credentialing eligibility, clinical advanced practice experience must be within the last two years
• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical
