Are you a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner looking for an exciting opportunity to provide acute and occupational medical care to on-site employees while enjoying the beauty of remote Alaska? If a work schedule that includes dozens of weeks off in a year to travel and enjoy life is appealing to you, we are seeking dedicated medical professionals to join our team for seasonal rotations. Fairweather offers a variety of rotational assignments across Alaska. Positions may be seasonal or long-term depending on project needs. Applicants will be considered for all upcoming openings that match their qualifications.
Job Responsibility:
Practitioner for acute and occupational medical care
Diagnoses and treats illnesses and injuries of the workforce
Prescribes and dispenses appropriate pharmaceuticals including controlled substances
Determines the need for emergency air evacuation of seriously ill or injured patients
Conducts laboratory and electro-cardiograph diagnostic procedures
Refers patients to appropriate consulting physicians within Alaska
Attend daily and/or weekly safety and training sessions with the Medical Director and/or Medical Emergency Response Team
Maintains medical records according to company policies and expected standards of medical practice
Requirements:
Active Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner License with Alaska State License
Professional certification with National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
Active DEA License
3-5 years family, internal medicine, or emergency medicine experience
2 years remote experience preferred
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Advance Trauma Life Support (ATLS) preferred
Knowledge of OSHA first aid policies
Must possess a valid driver's license
Considerable time walking, standing, stooping, sitting, lifting, and assisting with positioning the patient
Exposure to anesthetic gases, blood and body fluids, sharps, and other health care occupational hazards
Exposure to hospital-grade cleaning solutions, flammable solutions, and gases, e.g., alcohol and oxygen, as well as latex and other industrial chemicals
Nice to have:
2 years remote experience
Advance Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
