Job Description:

The Physician Assistant provides comprehensive physical assessment, treatment, psychosocial support, referral, and health education to children and families in clinical, school, and in-home settings under the supervision of a licensed physician. The Physician Assistant functions as an advanced practice provider, clinical leader, educator, researcher, care coordinator and consultant. Performs within the scope of licensures and in accordance with hospital policies. Some positions will be responsible for being on call according to a predetermined schedule or as needed.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provides comprehensive physical assessment, treatment, psychosocial support, referral, and health education to children and families in clinical, school, and in-home settings under the supervision of a licensed physician
  • Functions as an advanced practice provider, clinical leader, educator, researcher, care coordinator and consultant
  • Performs within the scope of licensures and in accordance with hospital policies
  • Some positions will be responsible for being on call according to a predetermined schedule or as needed

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree
  • Completion of a Physician Assistant Program
  • Current California Physician Assistant license
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA
  • DEA license for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications (within 1 year of employment)
  • Medicare Billing number (NPI-National Provider Identifier) (Must obtain within 6 months of employment)
  • Certification: Physician Assistant, National Commission (w/in 1 year of employment)
  • Successfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services
  • Successfully complete the requirements of the delegations of Services for the assigned division

Nice to have:

  • Two years of clinical experience with emphasis in specialty area
  • 2 years of experience in a direct clinical care position with emphasis in specialty area
  • Formal in-service education and/or lecturing skills
  • Bilingual
