Job Description:

The University of Kansas Health System invites applications for a distinguished Clinician Scientist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. This exceptional opportunity is ideal for an accomplished, research-focused psychiatrist who is eager to advance the understanding and treatment of mental illness through innovative research, clinical excellence, and academic leadership. This is a full-time faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant, or Associate, or Professor either on tenure track or non-tenure clinical/scholar track, depending on qualifications and experiences.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop and lead an independent, extramurally funded research program in areas such as neuropsychiatry, mood and anxiety disorders, psychosis, addiction, brain stimulation, or behavioral neuroscience
  • Collaborate with established programs in Neuroscience, Cancer Survivorship, Neurodegenerative Disease, and Population Health
  • Engage in a vibrant academic environment with opportunities to mentor trainees, develop multidisciplinary research initiatives, and lead national collaborations
  • Serve as a thought leader within a premier academic medical center

Requirements:

  • MD, MD/PhD, or DO
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry
  • Demonstrated record of sustained extramural research funding (NIH, NIMH, or equivalent)
  • Proven excellence in both research and clinical psychiatry

Nice to have:

  • Expertise in translational or clinical neuroscience, psychopharmacology, neuroimaging, or behavioral intervention research
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary or federally funded research programs
