The position entails working as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) at a tribal outpatient clinic while also taking on responsibilities at the attached nursing home. Incumbent should possess a solid foundation in physical therapy techniques, adept interpersonal skills, and a dedication to delivering top-notch care to patients in both outpatient and nursing home environments. Job Responsibility:
Provide direct physical therapy services to patients under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
Assist in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans for patients
Conduct therapy sessions in both the outpatient clinic and nursing home settings
Monitor patients' progress during therapy sessions, adjusting treatment plans as necessary
Educate patients and their families on exercises and techniques to promote recovery, mobility, and independence
Performs therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises and instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
Adhere to all relevant regulations and standards governing physical therapy practice
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
Previous experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably with experience in both outpatient and long-term care environments
2+ Years experience as a PTA preferred
Experience working with geriatric populations in a nursing home or long-term care facility preferred
Current state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Cultural sensitivity and awareness of the unique healthcare needs and traditions of tribal communities
Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care
Knowledge of tribal healthcare systems, policies, and practices preferred
Must pass background check, physical, and pre-employment drug screen
Nice to have:
2+ Years experience as a PTA preferred
