Job Description

This position provides outpatient orthopedic & sports physical therapy services primarily to a pediatric population from school age through adolescence/young adulthood. The applicant should be adept and comfortable independently managing the complete continuum of professional services from patient access to appropriate coding and billing practices according to legal/ethical guidelines and hospital policy. Performs evaluations, program planning, and treatment of patients using exercise, neuromuscular reeducation, joint and soft tissue mobilization, taping, electrical stimulation, thermal modalities, etc. specific to age, athletic activity, and developmental/functional level determined by assessment. This position will demonstrate an understanding of billing and coding practices as appropriate for professional outpatient services and its revenue cycle.

Job Responsibility

  • Evaluates and treats patients with a wide range of sports injury and orthopedic related diagnoses
  • Possesses skills to apply evidence-based, age and sport appropriate principals to all aspects of care
  • Demonstrates knowledge of typical development as it relates to athletic activity
  • Uses pediatric and athletic activity-based behavior management strategies
  • Establishes treatment plans with functional/measurable goals and target time frames
  • Implements patient's plan of care using treatment modalities
  • Performs patient/family teaching for maximizing function and return to activity/sport
  • Maintains appropriate and timely documentation
  • Organizes, coordinates, and collaborates with other disciplines
  • Builds and maintains rapport within the department, Phoenix Children's, and community
  • Supervises and directs rehab technician and/or students

Requirements

  • BS or higher degree from a school accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association
  • Sports/Orthopedic physical therapy setting
  • 2 years experience treating, coaching or teaching ages 7-18
  • Possess a current Arizona State Board of Physical Therapy license, prior to start date
  • Possess American Heart Association's BLS certification prior to start date
  • Holds, or is eligible to obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) to render and bill for independent professional services prior to start date

Nice to have

  • 2 years of athletic experience as a player, coach, official, etc.
  • Possess AZ DPS fingerprint clearance card prior to start date
  • Certified Clinical Specialist (SCS, OCS), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC)
  • Dry Needling Certification
  • Tool Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization Certification
  • Kinesiology or Specialty Taping Certification
