We are seeking a dynamic Qualified P.E. Teacher to join a vibrant Secondary School in Bury St Edmunds. This is a full-time, long-term role for a practitioner who is passionate about holistic health and can deliver a diverse, inclusive sports curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. Whether you are leading a rain-soaked rugby session or a high-stakes GCSE Theory lesson, we need a teacher who leads by example.
Job Responsibility:
Plan and lead high-quality practical sessions across a wide range of sports, including team games, athletics, gymnastics, and outdoor adventurous activities
Deliver the theoretical components of GCSE and BTEC Sport, helping students master anatomy, physiology, and sports psychology to achieve top results
Adapt sessions to ensure that students of all abilities and backgrounds-including those with SEN-are motivated and physically active
Organise and lead school teams, fixtures, and tournaments, fostering a healthy sense of competition and school pride
Work with the wider faculty to promote school-wide wellbeing initiatives and maintain high standards of health and safety in all sporting environments
Act as a role model for sportsmanship, discipline, and healthy living, encouraging students to take ownership of their physical development
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
A deep-seated love for sport and physical literacy, backed by a relevant degree and a strong understanding of the National Curriculum for P.E.
The ability to coach multiple sports to a high level and a willingness to stay current with modern training techniques
An energetic and approachable style that builds rapport with students, parents, and local sports community partners
An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one through Randstad)
