Job Description

This is a PRN position to help cover when other staff members are out on PTO and for when we have call outs. Part time position with 1 hour per week.

Job Responsibility

  • Assures accurate and timely collection of blood specimens
  • Assures accurate identification and delivery of patient samples to appropriate lab sections
  • Follows proper safety and identification procedures when dealing with patients and/or specimens
  • Improves work skills through self-study and continuing education
  • Contributes to the smooth and efficient operation of the section and department
  • Protects self, coworkers and facility by following approval policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood borne and/or airborne diseases
  • Exhibits and promotes the professional image of laboratories
  • Provides age appropriate specimen collection
  • Adheres to the general Medical Center standards to promote a cooperative work environment

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • One year phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively
  • Ability to work cooperatively
  • Basic computer skills
  • May require working any shift in a 24-hour period, 7 days/week, including holidays, possibly taking call
