Phlebotomist

• Reception and Telephone duties & proficient operation laboratory equipment including HIS/LIS systems
• specimen handling: receiving and processing
• prep & shipping of lab specimens for at Reference Laboratories
• specimen/patient registration
• phlebotomy - collection of blood samples by venipuncture or capillary stick
• therapeutic blood collection
• swab collection of specific Micro samples (per competency)
• assignment to OP Lab locations
• training new staff as assigned
• If assigned to a site where offered: Dispatch functions, EKG performance, collection of DOT and non-DOT drug screens, for cause drug screens (HR), and Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT)
• clinic relief fill-in
• respectful and patient communications (written and verbal) with patients, clients, other lab staff, and caregivers from other departments

• Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification upon hire
• Six (6) months direct experience as a phlebotomist and/or completion of a Phlebotomy program

Coursework/Training: Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy training Program/Course approved by WA State
