Play a vital role in determining patient diagnoses and treatment by expertly performing blood collection and specimen processing, ensuring the highest level of patient care.
Job Responsibility:
Expertly obtain and process blood specimens via capillary or venipuncture
Ensure integrity, proper disposal, and timely distribution of specimens to testing areas
Perform clerical duties
Prioritize patient comfort
Practice positive patient identification
Practice HumanKindness and courtesy with all patient and co-worker interactions
Establish and maintain good communication within the department and with other hospital departments
Comply with isolation and hand sanitization procedures
Follow blood collection procedures
Perform venous and capillary punctures on all age groups of inpatient and outpatient populations
Utilize appropriate collection techniques to obtain quality samples and adhere to appropriate volume requirements
Perform Blood Bank collections
Follow written collection and Blood Bank banding procedures
Demonstrate accuracy and good penmanship
Adhere to specimen requirements
Maintain order and cleanliness of phlebotomy trays, stations and storage rooms
Requirements:
High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or High School GED General Studies, upon hire
Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days
Nice to have:
3 months phlebotomy in an acute care facility
Phlebotomy Technician certification
