Job Description

Labcorp is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our team in Athens, GA. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 12:00pm (No Lunch Break) and rotating Saturdays. Phlebotomist will work in either a Patient Service Center or Client office. In this role you will provide exceptional customer service, perform skilled specimen collections and be the face of the company. In addition, you will be provided opportunities for continuous growth within the organization.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups
  • Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests etc.
  • Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
  • Process billing information and collect payments as necessary
  • Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis
  • Maintain patient and specimen information logs
  • Provide superior customer service to all patients
  • Administrative and clerical duties as necessary
  • Travel to additional sites when needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Phlebotomy certification or completed training program
  • 6 months or more experience as a phlebotomist
  • In lieu of work experience, a Phlebotomy certification or completed training program must come from an accredited agency
  • Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service
  • Strong communication skills: both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision
  • Reliable transportation
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice to have

2 years or more of phlebotomy experience

  • Perform venipuncture of donors and programming of plasmapheresis machine
  • Monitor donors during the donation process and manage donor reactions
  • Perform all tasks required for the setup, verification, operation, and troubleshooting of plasmapheresis equipment within scope of training
  • Install, prime, and disconnect disposable sets on the plasmapheresis machines
  • Stock supplies, break down empty cartons and assist with proper disposal
  • Take and record donor pulse, blood pressure, and temperature measures and monitor electronic donor questionnaire system
  • Perform finger sticks, test sample, and record other donor measures to include hematocrit, total protein, and weight
  • Enter donor information into the Donor Information System (DIS)
  • Coordinate donors to donor floor and compensate donors using the Debit Card system
