Job Description:

The Philanthropy Officer, Central Vermont Medical Center is an essential member of the UVM Health Development Team. This position partners closely with Development Offices across UVM Health and UVM Health Development Shared Services team to successfully create and implement a fundraising program, with a focus on major donor solicitation and engagement. As a frontline fundraising position, this role develops meaningful relationships with donors, potential donors, and community members through maintaining and growing a major gifts portfolio and executing strategy on key initiatives including major donor events, donor acquisition, stewardship, and grants. The Philanthropy Officer will have strong relationship building, communication, and project management skills, be able to execute initiatives with a high level of independence and have deep knowledge of fundraising best practices. The Philanthropy Officer, Central Vermont Medical Center reports to UVM Health Director of Philanthropy.

Job Responsibility:

  • Create and implement a fundraising program, with a focus on major donor solicitation and engagement
  • Develop meaningful relationships with donors, potential donors, and community members through maintaining and growing a major gifts portfolio
  • Execute strategy on key initiatives including major donor events, donor acquisition, stewardship, and grants

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 5 years of professional fundraising, sales, marketing, public relations, and/or communications experience, with evidence of increasing responsibility
  • Broad base knowledge of non-profit fundraising programs, including experience with gift cultivation, high quality stewardship, and fundraising events
  • Experience in fundraising, sales, or relationship building
  • ideally proven track record in frontline fundraising of gifts $25,000+
  • Effective project management skills gained through experience in project/process management and/or initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience in Development operations and workflow or equivalent
